AgileNotes
user interface is designed for maximum productivity by using one-tap(tm)
operations toolbars for writing
and drawing instead of multi-level menus.
The main window of AgileNotes contains (from
top to bottom):
- Path bar
- File manager
- Editor (edit field)
- Edit&draw toolbar
- Main operations toolbar
Let's take a look at functionality of these user interface elements
in details:
|=> Current path bar
(on the left screenshot you can see the current path "\SD-MMC
card\__Notes\"). This bar is not editable, but is scrollable
by stylus when you try to select indicated path string.
|=> File manager
which shows files of know format: *.pwi
of Pocket Notes, *.rtf
for rich text, including Pocket and Microsoft Office Word compatible,
*.txt
for plain text files (non-Unicode in the current version).
|
|
|
File manager supports two view
modes - Icon view and List view (to switch between them
you can use two right buttons on the main toolbar at bottom of screen).
File manager also supports local menu for the file
operations like Copy, Cut, Paste, Create folder, Rename and Delete.
Copy, Cut and Paste operations could be applyed only for files and
other operations are applicable for folder as well. Local menu could
be show by tap and hold on the selected filee or folder.
To open file in the edit field (see below) you
should twice tap on the selected file. |
|
|
You can show/hide
file manager by tap on the left (state) button on the main toolbar
|
|
|
|=>
Edit field (editor) is a central part of the main windows
and visible always (except situations when full screen modal dialogs
are shown). Editor supports rich
text writing, free-form drawing and copy/paste operations
including paste of bitmap metafile images from the clipboard,
for example from the Pockect Word documents. Copy/Paste operations
ar available from the Editor's local menu (tap
and hold on the selected text or drawing to call local menu).
|
|
|
|=> Editor works
in two modes - Write and Draw.
To switch between modes you should use two right buttons on the
operations toolbar.
|
| |
|
To apply any attribute(
in both modes) you should firstly select an object (text,
drawing or drawings group) and after that just click to the choosed
attribute button like Bold for text or red fill for curved line,
for example.
|
| Write
mode supports Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikeout,
Bullet formatting attributes, 4 colors and Voice recording object.
The voice recording button (right button on the
toolbar) allows to show/hide the voice recording bar.
|
|

|
| Draw
mode is also extend the traditional functionality
of standard Pocket Notes for .pwi-files. You
can use this mode to create colorized drawing objects including
line and fill colors.
|
|
 |
| |

|
|
Draw mode supports
two submodes:
- Draw-draw for free-form drawing
- Draw-select for applying choosed attributes.
To switch between submodes you should tap on Draw-select
button. When it is switched on you are able to
apply choosed attributes for selected objects
By default, the Editor is in free-form drawing Draw-draw
submode. If you draw open-ended line and try to select it and
apply filling color your object will be automatically closed to
fill in.
To select an object (in Draw-select mode) - just tap to its line
in any point . If you want to select several drawing objects tap,
hold and move stylus to select all required objects by expanding
the selection rectangle.
If you like to bring to front an object (especially filled by
color) you should firstly "disconnect" it if it is already
joined to another in single drawing (it is visible by appropriate
grey rectangle with "Drawing" caption). After that you
can select it and move back. So your object will be in front of
other objects.
If you like to clear the fillig color just tap on the right button
(with ellipse without fill color) and your object becomes transparent
again.

| Additional
Tips on using AgileNotes
- All saving operations (Save and Save As) are working in the
context of current folder (you can see full
path in the path bar on top of the main window).
- You can set a default
Home folder for AgileNotes. It will
be saved in options file that is automatically placed in the
AgileNotes installation folder. Also you can Go
Home any time from the main menu as well to
chnage the current folder to your home folder, for example on
SD MMC card if you loke to store your notes and documents out
of main Pocket PC memory. Home folder is automatically
selected when you start AgileNotes.
- Main menu contains items to automatically
launch Pocket Internet Explorer (or another default browser)
to go to this site' home page and this FAQ page as well.
- AgileNotes is a single instance application
that means one and only one instance in the memory (if you try
to start it again you will just activate already running instance
of AgileNotes).
- Please, remember that embedded
File manager doesn't show files with extensions other then rtf,
pwi or txt. So if you delet folder you will not get
warning messages or information that folder contains any files
except a standard message "Do you want to delete folder..?".
- If you try to save your note
with drawings to rtf or txt file -
all drawings will be lost because specific of these file formats.
If you try to save document with formatted text as txt file
- all formatting attributes will be lost except bullets which
will be replaced by asterisk symbol "*". Pwi-files
supports all text and drawing formatting attributes.
- AgileNotes works with standard pwi,
rtf and txt files so you can exchange within files with users
who haven't AgileNotes. If you send/copy your pwi file
to the machine with installed AvctiveSync you
can use Microsoft Office Word to convert and open your pwi-file;
in that case all your drawings will be automatically converted
to the embedded images. Please note that pwi-convertion operation
on the desktop will be silently stopped just on the first voice
recording object. So we recommmmend to place recording
at the end of your notes to prevent loosing of the
textual and drawings information in your pwi-files within use
in such scenario (within ActiveSync on desktop).
Happy
usage of AgileNotes!
We are working for your productivity!
